Charlene You

Charlene started her music journey at age of five when mother first introduced her the Yamaha program. She continued her music study in Theory and Composition as her major and Piano Performance as her minor in a magnet program during high school and college. Charlene’s music education experience includes being a school pianist and teacher for school district, a general music, theory and piano teacher at Sunshine Cottage School for Deaf Children and a Saint Mary’s Hall. She has 20 years of experience working with mainstream students, as well as with children with special needs. In addition, it is a privilege for Charlene to offer the Royal Conservatory of Music (RCM) exam preparation to her students to become State Award and Gold Medal winners recognized by the Royal Conservatory of Music.
Charlene enjoys working with students who are devoted to piano study and also those who are seeking to transition from keyboard study to other instruments or voice. She believes students learn best when they are motivated intrinsically and have set goals. Student progress is reviewed periodically with parents and goals and objectives are altered accordingly to best suit student’s goals and learning styles.
